Joker is a 2009 Indian Hindi-language superhero film written and directed by Shirish Kunder. It stars Akshay Kumar as Mr. Jadoo, a bungling criminal who develops a formula to become the world's first bionic man, but has his plans thwarted by powers beyond his control. The film was released on 1 October 2009, and received mixed reviews from critics. David Chute of Variety called it "a spectacularly unimaginative superhero spoof" while Derek Elley of Film Business Asia praised the film for its "fizzy mix of outrageous action scenes and surreal humour".
